Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate to work with Dr Rob Hughes on the project “Memory and language: A perceptual-motor approach to verbal sequence learning”, which is funded by the Leverhulme Trust. The project will investigate a novel theoretical approach to the processes supporting the learning of verbal sequences—a basic building block of language learning—where the focus will be on the roles of general-purpose auditory-perceptual and motor-planning processes as opposed to bespoke memory systems.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or a related discipline (e.g., Experimental Phonetics, Speech Science). They must have previous research experience of cognitive psychology. Expertise in short-term memory or/and sequence learning or/and motor production/planning, particularly in the verbal domain, is highly desirable.

This is a full time post, available from June 1st 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter for a fixed term period of 36 months. This post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance (40 min) from London.
